My Top 4 Drugstore Foundations

I do love foundation. It's the base of your makeup, so finding a foundation that does a great a job and is affordable is important. Not everyone has hundreds of pounds to be splashing out on high end foundations. I'm a jobless teenager with about 20p to my name. So I have compiled my 4 favourite drugstore foundations.

The first foundation is the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation. This is an illuminating foundation meaning that it gives the skin a radiant glow. This foundation makes me look more awake (hence the name) and gives a really natural looking finish. You can't see in the picture, but the foundation has a slight shimmer to it but this isn't an issue for me. You don't really notice it when it's on the skin, only under artificial light. Coverage wise, it's quite light but if you want to achieve a medium coverage the it is build-able. I have combination skin, oily in my t-zone and dry around my nose and eyes, and I found that this foundation didn't cling to dry patches (Yay!). I did have to powder in my t-zone, so I think for any of you with oily skin, you may still need to powder. There are six different shades, I wear the lightest which is 100 - Ivory but I do feel like the shade range could be bigger. It retails for £8.99 in SuperDrug, but have found that it is sometimes £5 in some supermarkets. It comes in a nice glass bottle which makes it feel a bit more luxurious! It has a pump which is great and allows you yo control how much product you want. In terms of lasting power, it lasted all day, only towards the end of the night did I find it became patchy. I applied this foundation with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and it blends really nicely into the skin. This foundation is definitely worth trying out! You can purchase it here.

Next is the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude Foundation. Now you're probably thinking 25 hour foundation?! I personally haven't worn any foundation for that long before, nor do I know anyone that has! But it does last for a long time. This is a medium coverage foundation which I personally like and it's great at covering blemishes. I love that this foundation doesn't sit on the skin and you buff it in to give a more natural look. Like the Wake Me Up foundation, it doesn't cling to dry patches. I didn't have to powder with this foundation, so it's great for people with oily/combination skin like me. It does claim to give a 'poreless effect' although I don't 100% agree with that, but it looks amazing when you wear a primer underneath the foundation. It comes in a nice, slim, glass bottle which makes it feel like a high end foundation. There are six different shades and I wear the lightest (because I'm super pale) which is 010 Light Porcelain. I applied this foundation with my Real Techniques Exper Face Brush and it blended really nicely into my skin. This foundation retails for around £7.99 which, in my opinion, is worth it. You can purchase it here.

Then we have the Maybeline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation. This is a lightweight foundation with a medium coverage, but is buildable. It doesn't cover my blemishes as well as I would have liked it too but does cover redness. It is quite long lasting, but by the end of the day, it has dissapeared off the more oily parts of my skin like my nose and chin. It does claim to give a poreless look which I don't agree with completely as I have large pores on my nose which are still visible after applying this foundation. However, I did apply my Benefit Porefessional Primer underneath and the pores on my nose were visablly reduced. This foundation blends really nicely into the skin, and does give a natural finish. Like the foundations I've mentioned above, this one doesn't cling to any dry patches, but I did have to powder my t-zone and any other oily parts of my skin after. This is quite a dewy foundation so people with oily/combination skin may need to powder like I had to. There are a total of 8 different shades, I use 04 - Light Porcelain. Overall, this is a great foundation, not my favourite, but still a good product. It retails for £7.99 and you can find it here.

Finally, we have the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. This foundation has been hyped about quite a bit, because of it's lightweight formula. When it's on the skin, you barely notice that it's there and has a 'traceless coverage'. The foundation has 'Smart Tone Technology' and claims to look flawless under any light, which I don't 100% agree on. It doesn't cover up blemishes and under-eye circles as much as I would like it to, but it does cover up redness around my nose and on my cheeks. This is a great foundation for anyone that isn't really aloud to wear a lot of make-up. This foundation did cling to dry patches on my face (unfortuanately) but I applied a moisturizer before applying it and that sorted out the problem. A little bit of this foundation does go a long way and is build-able to your desired coverage. This foundation is a mixture between a dewy and matte texture, meaning I only had to powder in my t-zone, this may be different for you depending on your skin type. There are 11 shades which I think is an amazing shade range for a drugstore foundation. I use 100 - Ivory. This foundation is £6.99 but is sometimes £5 in some supermarkets! Definitely worth trying. You can purchase it here.

What drugstore foundations do you love?
I hope you're having a great week!

How To - Messy Fish Tail Braid

I'm not the greatest at styling my hair and am never adventurous with it either. I always just straighten it and that's pretty much it. But recently I've tried doing different style and thought I'd attempt to do a fish tail braid as they look incredible on every one else. I can finally say that I know how to do them (after many failed attempts). So today's post is a quick tutorial on how to get a messy fish tail braid.

I started off with brushing my hair as it's a nightmare trying to pull strands of hair across when it's tangled together. I then pulled all of my hair over to one side and split my hair into two sections.

Then, pull a strand of hair from one of the sections and bring it to the other section. Sounds very confusing but I tried to demonstrate it in the pictures. When pulling over bits of hair to the other side, you can choose how thick or thin you want them to be. I chose them to be thin because that's what I prefer personally but it's completely up to you!

Then take a piece from the other section and pull it over to the other side. Pull it from the back, bring it to the middle. Continue to do this until you get to the bottom.

Once you have reached the bottom, you want to secure it with an elastic band or a hair tye. I use elastic bands because my hair is very thin. I got my elastic bands from Primark a while ago. They come in a big bag and there was lots in there, I'm sure they still sell them but if not I've found some on amazon.

After your braid is secured, I then pulled out bits of hair to give it a messier look.

I then sprayed a texturising spray to add to the messiness. I used the L'Oreal Studio Line #TXT Volume Supersizing Spray which you can find here. It's really good at giving texture to the hair and it smells AMAZING. I then pulled at the braid to make it even more messier, and that's it! DONE!

Thank you for reading! Do you like this look and would you recreate it?

Goodbye!

NOTD - Winter Sparkle

Hello everyone! I hope you're well. I was meant to do some OOTD posts but I'm trying to find a day where my family aren't in the house because I find it so embarrassing to take pictures in front of them, and they don't really understand why I do it haha! So in the meantime I thought I'd do my Nails Of The Day.

Watch - New Look

This is my favourite nail look at the moment because the colour fits perfectly for the winter and it looks I've dipped them into glitter. I like that glitter turns different colours under the light as well.

Base/Top Coat - Barry M
Fearne Nail Polish - Heart Ache

I started off with a base coat, as most red nail polishes can stain your nails. It's happened to me in the past, so I always make sure I apply a base coat. I really like this Barry M one as it's not too thick, so it's really easy to apply.

After I have applied a base coat, I then apply the red nail varnish. I got this nail varnish in a set for Christmas, after hearing great things about them. You can purchase the set here. The formula is amazing, similar to the Barry M nail polishes, but I've not seen a red nail varnish colour as dark as this one before, which is why I'm so drawn to it.

As you can see, I'm not the best at painting my nails. I always manage to paint my skin more than my actual nail! After the nail varnish has finished drying, I then applied the glitter. I've had this glittery nail varnish for a few years now. But it came in a cheap set I got for my 12th birthday ages ago. I don't even think they sell them anymore haha! But any glittery nail varnish will do. I only applied the glitter to the top half of my nail, to make it look like I've dipped my nail in glitter. I love the way this looks. It looks like you've spent ages doing your nails when in reality you haven't.

And then you're done! Feel free to apply a top coat to protect the design, I didn't because I'm lazy haha!

Thank you for reading. In the comments write your favourite nail varnish.

Goodbye!

What's In My Bag? 2015

Hello everyone! I hope you're well. I'm currently waiting for my tripod to be delivered as I want to do some OOTD posts, so in the meantime, I thought I would do a what's in my bag post for you today.

My bag is from Primark. It's a navy blue leather bag with gold detailing on the buckles and on the lock. It comes with a handle at the top to carry in your hand, and a long strap to put over your shoulders. The strap is also adjustable so you can have it any length you would like! Inside the bag is a zip pocket on the side (which is wear I keep girly things but I didn't feel the need to show you) and also has a pocket for your phone, keys etc.

Purse - Primark
Phone - iPhone 4S
Sprays - Impulse and Sure
Umbrella - New Look
Chewing Gum - Extra
Perfume - Vera Wang Princess
Bottle of Water
Travel Bag (Can't remember where from sorry!)

So inside my bag, I first have my purse. This purse is from Primark and I think I purchased it for £6 or £7 I'm not too sure. I didn't buy this purse too long ago so I believe it's still in the shops. I love this purse as it has gold detailing on the front and on the zip. Also, there is enough space to keep my cards and my money.

Next is my phone. I don't know where I'd be without my phone, I'm constantly on it! This is the white iPhone 4S. I've had this phone for nearly 2 years and cannot wait for my contract to end so I can get an updated version!

I have my chewing gum, body sprays and deodorants, umbrella and my favourite perfume...

Then I have a small travel bag which annoyingly I can't remember where I got it from. But it's just a small zipped bag that is just the write size for the things I'd like to keep in one place.

Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel
Plasters
Pain Killers

These are the things I like to carry around in my travel bag. Things like hand gel, plasters just in case I or someone else injuries themselves and some pain killers for headaches and things.

Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara
Revlon Colour Burst Matte Balm in Shameless
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in 1
Soap & Glory Supercat Eyeliner

And this is the makeup that I keep in my bag.

Rimmel Extra SuperLash Mascara which is my all time favourite mascara, Revelon Colour Burst Matte Balm which is a very moisturising lip stian in a dark purple shade, Collection Lasting Perfection Conealer, great for concealing under eye circles, blemishes and redness and the Soap & Glory SuperCat Eyeliner, this is my all time favourite eyeliner as the brush is sturdy which allows you to create the perfect winged eyeliner.

Thank You for reading.
In the comments, write your top 3 handbag essentials, I'd love to know!
Goodbye!

My Favourite Red Lipstick | FOTD

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Sangria 06

Today's blog post is about my favourite red lipstick and my F0TD (Face Of The Day).

My favourite red lipstick is the Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick in Sangria 06. This isn't your typical bright red lipstick, it is a bit more darker which is why I like it. I don't really suit bright red lipstick which is why I tend to stick with the purples and the pinks, but I was shopping in Debenhams one day, drooling over all the make-up and saw that Elizabeth Arden was having a seasonal sale. This lipstick is usually £20 but it was reduced to £10.

This is my favourite red lipstick for a number of reasons. One of them being that it is so moisturising and creamy. With most lipsticks, I have to apply a lip balm first as they are quite drying but I didn't have to with this on. The application is very smooth and once it's on you can't feel it on your lips. I haven't worn this lipstick all day for me to be able to tell you about it's lasting power, but I have worn it for roughly 2 hours and it was still on my lips. This lipstick comes in a variety of different shades and I will definitely be buying some more.

This is the make-up that I paired with the red lipstick:

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
Rimmel Lasting 25hr Nude Foundation
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Sleek Blush
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Soap & Glory Super Cat Eyeliner
Rimmel Kohl Eyeliner Pencil
Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara
MUA Matte Eyshadow Palette

Thank you for reading this blog post.
Until next time,
Goodbye!
